Store robbed at gunpoint
By CHRIS MENEES
Staff Reporter
Union City police are seeking three suspects today in the Wednesday night armed robbery of a Mexican grocery store.
The robbery occurred about 7:55 p.m. at Taqueria La Michoacana at 1207 East Main St. in Union City.
An employee told police she was standing behind the counter when three black men wearing all black clothing came into the store. All three of them reportedly had blue and red bandannas covering their faces and all three had semi-automatic pistols in their hands.
The employee said the three men separated inside the store, according to a Union City Police Department report. One of them went to the back of the store and one went behind the counter, where he grabbed money from a small filing cabinet.
The other man allegedly stood in front of the counter pointing a pistol at the 24-year-old employee.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during the holdup.
All three of the suspects fled the store on foot, traveling northbound toward Nash Street toward the East Gate Village area, according to the police report.
No injuries were reported in the incident Wednesday night.
Police are hopeful that anyone with information about the robbery or the three suspects will contact police or Crime Stoppers. Tips may be reported to the police department at 885-1515 or to Crime Stoppers at 885-TIPS (885-8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers are guaranteed anonymity and could earn rewards for tips which solve cases.
