Cigarettes were reported stolen during two separate break-ins at Union City convenience stores early Sunday.
The incidents occurred at Kwik Mart at 1005 North Clover St. and at West Main BP at 302 West Main St., according to Union City Police Department reports.
Police responded at 2:33 a.m. Sunday to an alarm call at Kwik Mart on North Clover Street, where officers discovered a rock had been thrown through a front door and the glass pushed through the door to the inside.
Store video showed a black man threw a rock at the glass door several times before it broke. Once inside, he jumped over the counter and looked around the area before he grabbed several packs of cigarettes from a rack. The man then jumped back over the counter and ran out the door.
The suspect was wearing a white muscle shirt, dark pants and dark shoes with some white on the bottom, police reported.
Police then responded at 5:31 a.m. Sunday to an alarm call at the BP station on West Main Street. There, they found the front door had been broken out with a rock and someone had entered the business.
The intruder apparently went to a cabinet near the register and took three cartons of cigarettes, then fled running.
The suspect was reported to be wearing a black shirt and black pants, according to the report.
