Lady Chargers close
with win, top seed

Westview girls’ soccer team wrapped up the regular season Tuesday night at Crockett County with a 3-2 victory.
The win gives the Lady Chargers 13-3-1 record on the regular season. Westview goes into the District 13A-AA play next week with an undefeated district record of 10-0-1 and a first-round bye. Westview has the No. 2 seed and home field advantage throughout the district tournament.
The Lady Chargers will be looking to make it back in the district finals again this season after losing to Dyersburg in the district finals last season.
If the Lady Chargers can with the district tournament, then they will host a sectional game. Last season, the Lady Chargers had to travel to Madison Academic in the sectionals.
Westview will begin tournament play Tuesday at the MTD Soccer Complex

Senior goalkeeper Makenzie Vincent had a great game Tuesday night with 20 saves against the Lady Cavaliers.
Alexus Taylor, Emily Plunk, and Kayla Guthrie scored for the Lady Chargers with Brooklyn Stevenson assisting on the goals.

Two UTM rifle teams
among nation’s best

For the first time in program history, two UT Martin rifle teams are among the nation’s top 20 squads. In the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) polls released Monday, the Skyhawk mixed team is ranked 13th in the nation, while the UT Martin women’s team is not too far behind in 18th place.
The mixed squad’s rank is the highest in several years, while this is the first time that both UT Martin rifle teams have cracked the top 20 in the polls.
UT Martin’s rifle squads are off to a blazing start, the mixed team captured top honors in the Memphis Tiger Open in its season debut on Sept. 29. The Skyhawks broke the school record for aggregate score (4,601) and air rifle score (2,328).
