2 of 3 in murder case released after hearing
Two of three Weakley County men charged earlier this year in connection with the murder of a Dresden woman have been released pending further court proceedings as part of an agreement with the state.
At a motion hearing Thursday in Weakley County Circuit Court, 18-year-old David McDonald Jr. of Greenfield and 31-year-old Condarium Jones of Dresden were released on their own recognizance because they are state witnesses against 18-year-old Nicholas Coleman of Dresden — who is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Lori Williams, 44.
McDonald and Jones have been charged with accessory after the fact but will most likely receive lesser charges for their testimony, according to sources.
Coleman’s next court date is scheduled for Nov. 29.
Ms. Williams was found shot to death Jan. 15 at her apartment at 495 Highway 118 in Dresden. Her purse, money, medication and personal items were also taken from the scene, authorities said.
Within three days of the incident, investigators from the Dresden Police Department, with assistance from the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department and Martin Police Department, took four people into custody in connection with her death.
Among those arrested for alleged involvement were McDonald, Coleman, Jones and a fourth person, 21-year-old Austin Evans of Sharon.
McDonald, Jones and Evans originally faced charges of accessory after the fact, while Coleman faced a first-degree murder charge and an especially aggravated robbery charge. In February, the charges against Evans were expunged after an investigation. Published in The WCP 10.9.12
