Jr. ’Jackets finish
on winning note

Greenfield Middle School ended its 2012 football season on a positive note Tuesday night at West Carroll with a 28-12 win to finish with a 2-6 record.
The Yellowjackets’ head coach said it felt good to end the season with a win.
“We went out on a positive note,” head coach Hall Blackman said. “We did well through the air, and quarterback Will Northcutt had a good night.”
Northcutt moved the ’Jackets down the field with a series of passes in the first quarter and ran it in from one yard out to give his team the early lead.
Running back Dusty Irby got in on the aerial fun later in the first half with a 25-yard halfback pass to Truman Greub. Irby scored on an eight-yard sweep in the third quarter for Greenfield’s third score.
Jacob Lewis finished out the scoring for the Yellowjackets on a short run later in the second half.
Irby also had an interception for Greenfield. Blackman said the defense played a great game led by Kody Mealer, Lewis and Northcutt.
“The defense played did good and had a great game,” Blackman said. “Those four kids really stepped up tonight. Northcutt and Lewis did their job at the linebacker position.”

Satterfield picks up
weekly CFPA award

Sophomore James Satterfield was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) for his effort this past Saturday in UT Martin’s OVC showdown with Eastern Kentucky at Hardy M. Graham Stadium.
The UT Martin punter averaged 44 yards per punt against the Colonels. He punted six times, his longest a 70-yarder. He also had two punts inside the 20-yard-line and one touchback.
Satterfield’s 70-yard punt is UTM’s longest when Adam Ivey had a 58-yard punt.
Satterfield is averaging 40.2 yards per punt this season for the Skyhawks.
The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferment in college football.
Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Published in The WCP 10.4.12
