Members of the Community Concert Association of Union City/Obion County will have the opportunity to attend the first of three reciprocal performances in Dyersburg on Tuesday when Dyersburg Live! presents Terry Barber in concert.
Barber, countertenor su-perstar and formerly the “the jewel in Chanticleer’s crown,” will perform a diverse program of classical and popular favorites at the FCNB Auditorium on the campus of Dyersburg State Community College at 7:30 p.m.
He has established himself on the international stage as a distinguished vocalist and entertainer, demonstrating a broad vocal and stylistic range. His solo work includes appearances at the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Spoleto Festival and a feature soloist performance at Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall at the specific request of composer Georgs Pelecis. Barber has recorded a multitude of recordings on all major classical labels, as well as his own rEvolv imprint. In 2009, Barber founded “Artist for a Cause,” a non-profit corporation created to organize collaborations between artists and the charities they support.
Pending available seating, Dyersburg State Community College students will be admitted free beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Community Concert Association of Union City/Obion County memberships are available for $95 per family, $45 for adults, $40 for seniors or $25 for students. Patron memberships include Eighth Note $100-$249, Quarter Note $250-499, Half Note $500-999 and Full Note $1,000 and above. Patron memberships will be listed in the program for each concert. The remaining concerts for the 2012-13 season include Masters of Motown on Nov. 17, Papa Doo Run Run on March 9, 2013, and VoicePlay on April 20, 2013. Remaining reciprocal performances in Dyersburg include Thomas Pandolfi on Feb. 16, 2013, and The Marvelous Wonderettes on April 9, 2013.
