Posted: Friday, September 14, 2012 12:00 pm

UT Martin’s cross country squads both produced top-four team finishes over the weekend at the Powerade Invitational at Moccasin Bend in Chattanooga.
The Skyhawk men finished the highest of the three Ohio Valley Conference schools in the meet, posting a 1:25.52 total time in the 5,000-meter run, good enough for third place overall. UT Martin’s women finished in fourth place with a total time of 1:05.06 in the two-mile run.
For the second time in as many weeks, Justin Morgan paced the men’s squad, completing the course in 16:38.27 to finish eighth out of 48 runners. Ryan Pett followed with a time of 16:54.90, while Vance Pounders (17:11.62) and Josiah Roberts (17:17.50) slotted back-to-back finishes.
Tallon Scott posted a final time of 17:49.59, while Trevor Hancock (18:30.45) and Mark Graubner (18:30.75) finished within a half-second of each other. Zach Phifer ran the course in 19:13.39 to round out the field for the Skyhawks.
On the women’s side, Kathryn Skaggs led the charge with a final time of 12:29.64. Amanda Wardlaw finished strong with a 12:49.87. Published in The WCP 9.13.12
