South Fulton offense has too much firepower for Generals

In Thursday night’s shootout at South Fulton, the Red Devils shot first and more often.
SF scored 24 points in the first quarter and then countered Lake Road’s 30 second-period points with 22 of its own on the way to a wild 60-30 triumph.
The game served as a good warm-up to the Red Devils’ high school game against Humboldt (see related story) and highlighted a full night of middle school action across Obion County.
Other local action saw Hillcrest handle Fulton County 47-6 and Ridgemont take an 18-12 overtime win over Lake County.
SF 60, Lake Road 30
Eight snaps. Eight touchdowns.
It was that easy for the Red Devils, who scored on eight consecutive plays from the first through the third quarters.
Counting two-point conversions, seven different SF players scored.
Kody Davidson had a 31-yard TD run, 24-yard scoring catch and a pair of two-pointers.
Zaccius Mays, who had 116 yards rushing on just three carries, scored on runs of 58 and 52 yards, brought back a kickoff 80 yards and scored a two-pointer.
Branden Walker had a 57-yard TD run, Jyriq Jones added a 37-yard scoring run and conversion and Nick Kopriva had a TD run, while Gevin Courtney and Austin Seymour added conversions.
Carter Hodges threw a TD pass on his only attempt.
Mays finished with 196 all-purpose yards, and Jones added 99.
Kopriva had six tackles, while  Seymour, Jacob Adams, Zack Goetz and Branden Land each had four stops.
Jones had two tackles and two fumble recoveries, and both Hunter Hamilton and Logan Brimm recovered a fumble for the Redmen.
The Generals put up some big numbers as well, led by Sinclair Forrest and Mitchell Forrester.
Both rushed for over 100 yards and two scores. Forrest had 10 carries for 187 yards, scoring on runs of 62 and 80 yards, while Forrester rushed for 165 yards on 12 carries, including TD scampers of 20 and 60 yards.
Brady Ladd added 72 yards on 10 carries, and Ian Ferguson rushed for 62 yards on eight attempts.
Forrester, Ferguson and Thomas Mathis all added two-point conversions.
Forrest had six tackles, while Ferguson, Ladd and Hayden Vissering had five stops each.
SF (3-0) hosts Heath on Thursday, while Lake Road hosts Ridgemont Thursday at 5 p.m.
H’crest 47, Fulton Co. 6
The Cougars jumped out to a 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and finished with 409 total yards in routing the Pilots.
Tyler Walton completed 17-of-23 passes for 228 yards and four touchdowns, hooking up with five different receivers.
Greg Nance (4 catches, 67 yards), Christian Cary (3-21), JT Messick (2-36) and Mason Cook (2-16) all had  a TD catch, while Dylan Ruiz had four catches for 58 yards.
On the ground, Hillcrest had three more touchdowns.
Cook had seven carries for 71 yards, Messick added 56 yards on four carries and Jamison Albright had five carries for 29 yards.
Garrett Northam led the Cougars with six tackles, Axl Powers added five stops, and both Cook and Christian Cary had four stops.
Dylan Armstrong had three tackles and an interception, Greg Nance picked off a pass and Ruiz had a pick-off and fumble recovery.
The Cougars took a 33-6 lead into intermission and expanded that lead to 40-6 after three quarters.
R’mont 18, Lake Co. 12
Brandon Swift’s third touchdown was the game-winner as the Mustangs outlasted the Falcons in an extra period.
Swift had a big night on offense for Ridgemont, rushing for all three scores and 106 yards.
J.P. Jones contributed 45 yards rushing for the Mustangs.
Defensively for Ridge-mont, Heath Cary and Luis Camocho each had six solo tackles, while Emmanuel Morgan had four tackles and a sack.
Ridgemont grabbed a 6-0 lead after one quarter, but the teams were tied after each of the next three regulation periods — 6-6 at the half and then 12-12  at the end of both the third and fourth frames.
Now 3-0, the Mustangs travel to Lake Road on Thursday.
