Workshops planned

The Tennessee Career Center for Goodyear is offering two free workshops titled “Ways to Save.” The workshops will be offered on-site and via distance learning technology from Dresden.
University of Tennessee Extension Service Obion County Family and Consumer Science Agent Benita Giffin will be at the Tennessee Career Center for Goodyear Tuesday at 2 p.m. and on Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m. leading workshops on managing family finances and using everyday tips for saving money.
“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the Tennessee Career Center at Dresden in bringing workshops to dislocated workers and other job seekers using interactive technology,” said Connie Stewart, director of the Goodyear Career Center in Union City.  “With gas prices remaining at such a high level, we are looking to serve people closer to where they live. Distance learning makes it possible for the career centers to serve a broader range of people by offering interactive workshops simultaneously in different locations, which saves the job seekers money by not having to travel.”
Residents of northwest Tennessee can take advantage of the latest technology by attending the workshops in person at the Union City location at 204 South Second St. or may register to participate through interactive technology at the Tennessee Career Center at Dresden, located at 135 South Poplar St., Suite B.
To register for the workshops, contact the Goodyear Career Center at 884-3868. The Tennessee Career Center is “Where People and Jobs Connect.”
