Scorecards needed
for ’Pop’ winners

Poplar Meadows Country Club held its weekly men’s scramble Wednesday with the winning team shooting 9-under par.
Members of the winning team, in a scorecard playoff, included Charles Denaburg, Rob Jordan, Greg Dunn, Dylan Bondurant, Ross Clark and Larry Snider.
Also shooting 9-under par was the team of Bedford Dunavant, Matt Russell, Robert Huffstutter, Rick Smith and Bruce Culver.
The scramble, which is $10 for members and $15 for non-members, includes the 9-hole event and dinner afterward.
It begins at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday and participants are encouraged to call the club by 5:15 each week. For more information, call 885-3650.

Neyland Stadium
more fan-friendly

KNOXVILLE (AP) — The University of Tennessee has made several improvements to Neyland Stadium in time for the Sept. 8 home opener against Georgia State.
It will be harder to get lost in the massive stadium with the placement of “you are here” maps throughout.
UT also has improved cell phone reception in the big bowl and installed more family restrooms with diaper-changing tables.
Flat-screen TVs have replaced boxed sets on the lower level.
Don’t like the hot dog? The concession stands will have a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee.

Titans part ways
with veteran DT

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have released veteran defensive tackle Shaun Smith a year after signing him to boost their defense.
The Titans signed Smith in July 2011 hoping to bring his experience and size to the defense.
But Smith started only six of 15 games last season with 44 tackles and one sack.
The Titans have picked four tackles in the past two drafts.
