Miss Teen Earth crown returns to Martin
Miss Teen Earth crown returns to Martin | Miss Teen Earth crown returns to Martin, Maddison Boucher, Carlie Vowell, Miss Teen Earth United States

Maddison Boucher of Martin takes the 2012 Miss Teen Earth United States crown from 2011 queen Carlie Vowell
Maddison Boucher of Martin, daughter of Bobbi Boucher of Union City, was recently named Miss Teen Earth United States as part of a competition held at the Carowinds theme park on the border of Charlotte, N.C., and Fort Mill, S.C.
The 2012 United States Earth Pageants final competition featured 42 from across the country.
Miss Boucher, 17, was also given the title of Miss Friendship, which is voted on by her peers and competitors.
“I am already looking forward to my duties this year — traveling, meeting new people and getting the word out about my environmental advocacy, which is focused upon helping other teens and pre-teens understand what they can personally do to help protect Mother Earth,” said Miss Boucher moments after being selected Miss Teen Earth United States 2012.
As Miss Earth United States, she receives a prize package and the opportunity to serve as an environmental awareness ambassador for our nation’s youth.
A rising senior at Westview High School in Martin, Miss Boucher aspires to work as a professional model while obtaining a degree in pediatric speech audiology.
During her year as Miss Teen Earth United States, Miss Boucher will travel throughout the country advocating environmental awareness.
She will talk to various government representatives, business leaders, community groups and citizens-at-large, urging them to get involved in the fight for the preservation of Mother Earth.
Miss Boucher was crowned by her friend, classmate and fellow earth advocate, Carlie Vowell of Martin.
In 2011 Miss Vowell was the youngest contestant ever to win the coveted Teen Earth title. Miss Boucher said to Miss Vowell after she was announced the winner, “I wouldn’t be here without you!”
Miss Boucher went on to say, “It made all this so much more meaningful to be crowned by Carlie and to bring the title back to West Tennessee. I am glad I could fill the shoes of such an amazing young lady like Carlie.”
Kevin Mohorn, national organizer of Earth Pageant Productions, which conducts Miss Earth United States and Miss Teen Earth United States, said, “Maddison embodies the qualities a role model for young women and girls should have. She is genuine. She’s talented, ambitious and accomplished. We are excited about working with her this year.”
A number of other contestants received awards during the final competition.
Established in 2005, the United States Earth Pageants organization provides opportunities for young women to achieve their personal and professional ambitions.
Contestants also participate in community service activities and develop leadership skills that help them excel in their chosen career and life goals.
Now based in Baltimore, the United States Earth Pageants organization provides young women with a vehicle to further their personal advocacy goals regarding the environment and instills a spirit of community service through a variety of unique nationwide community-based programs and activities.
