LC lawyer suspended

Posted: Tuesday, August 21, 2012 1:17 pm

The Messenger, August 21, 2012
The Tennessee Supreme Court has suspended the law license of Lake County attorney Guy Steven Davis for a definite period of one year, retroactive to his temporary suspension Oct. 10, 2011, and indefinitely until he substantially complies with his Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program monitoring agreement for a period of six months.
The action was taken Aug. 13, according to a press release from the court’s Board of Professional Responsibility.
The board filed a petition for discipline against Davis, pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 8.2. A hearing panel found Davis failed to comply with his TLAP monitoring agreement, which violated the Supreme Court’s Aug. 22, 2010, order reinstating Davis in part based upon his substantial compliance with his TLAP monitoring agreement.
Davis’ alleged actions violated the following Rules of Professional Conduct: 3.4 (fairness to opposing party and counsel), 8.1 (disciplinary matters) and 8.4 (misconduct).
Davis was ordered to pay the expenses and costs of the disciplinary proceedings against him, pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 24.3, and fully comply in all respects with the requirements and obligations of suspended attorneys as set forth in Supreme Court Rule 9, Section 18.
