Rebs, SF stay on right course
All three Obion County prep golf teams were action at separate venues, Obion Central and South Fulton taking first place in matches, while Union City recorded a second place finish.
The trio will all play in the Dyersburg Kickoff Classic at The Farms on Monday.
Rebs better CC
Obion Central was 11 strokes better than Crockett County in a prep golf match Thursday afternoon at Wynridge Greens in Troy.
The Rebels shot 164 to CC’s 175.
Ryan Middlebrook was the medalist for Central, shooting a 39, while teammates Klayton Hagen (40), Korben Hagen (41) and Cameron Green (44) were next on the OC scorecard.
There was no girls’ match, but Ashlyn Runions shot 46 and Samantha Wallace 52 in individual play.
SF tops Tide
South Fulton’s boys were 11 strokes better than Trenton. The Red Devil girls used the afternoon as a practice session.
SF shot a 161 to top the Golden Tide’s 172.
David Kent Brundige led the Red Devils with a 37, starting his round with a birdie on the first hole.
Justin Johns followed with a 40, Nick Daughtery fired a 42 and Joshua Mayo finished with a 43.
With no Peabody girls’ team to play, three Devilettes got in a round with McKenzie Pane leading with a 45. Sydney Easterwood had a 48, and Sierra Coley shot a 52.
UC distant 2nd
Union City’s boys’ golf team tied for second with Ripley behind match winner and host Gibson County in a three-way match Thursday afternoon at Pinecrest Country Club.
Chase Treece and Kizer Harris both shot 57s for UC’s best score. Luke Searcy came in with a 58, Devin King a 60 and Jon David Fuzzell 61.
The Tornadoes’ team total was 232.
Gibson County posted a 175.
