A “tragic” power tool accident over the weekend has claimed the life of a 47-year-old Greenfield man. According to Greenfield Police Chief Danny Harris, Joe Van Allen died as a result of an accident Saturday mid-afternoon when a hand-grinder wheel struck him in the back of the neck. Allen was working on a project at a relative’s house on Garland Street in Greenfield at the time. The Greenfield Police Department and Weakley County Ambulance Service responded to the scene. Services for Allen will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield, with a burial to follow in Highland Cemetery. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Renea Allen and their two daughters. For online tributes, visit williamsfhofgreenfieldandgleason.com.
