Dresden hosting
cross country meet

Dresden High School will host a cross country meet Tuesday at the Adult Learning Center.
The meet will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Entry fee is $30 per team and $60 for both boys’ and girls’ teams.
Trophies will be awarded to first-place overall and the top three teams, medals will be given to the top 15 runners and an achor award will be given out as well.
There will be a live DJ, and concessions (snacks and water) will be on sale.

Haag fares well
in WV matches

Westview had the top boys’ team, led by the top two boys’ players, in Tuesday’s prep golf match at Troy.
Houston Haag and Barrett Belote each fired a 39 to lead the Chargers to a win in the three-way match with a team total of 174.
Obion Central was next at 182, and Union City finished at 217.
Ryan Middlebrook led the local entrants with a 43, Corbin Hagen fired a 45, and both Cameron Green and Clayton Hagen shot 47 for the Rebels.
Cruz Kepner topped the Golden Tornadoes with a 46, while Clay Treece finished at 49, Devin King totaled  52 and Kizer Harris shot a 62.
Monday at Persimmon Hills, Westview finished second and Greenfield was fourth in a boys’ four-way match.
Haag’s 39 and Jordon Long’s 41 helped the Chargers to a 173 team total, second to Milan’s 154. Barrett Belote added a 44, and Nick Hart shot a 49 for Westview.
Greenfield’s Tony Robinson tied Haag at 39, two strokes behind medalist Taylor Stuckey of Milan and one back of South Gibson’s Jagger Stockdale.
Peyton Williams shot a 49 for Dresden.
A pair of 42s from Milan’s Arianna Clemmer and Riley Taylor helped the Lady Bulldogs top Greenfield in girls’ action.
McCall Scates shot a 52, and Ashley Tucker had a 67 for the Lady Yellowjackets.

UTM baseball hosts
camp for prospects

UT Martin head baseball coach Bubba Cates has announced his coaching staff will conduct a high school showcase camp at Skyhawk Field. The camp will take place Sept. 8 at 10 a.m.
The camp is open to players in grades 9-12 with check-in to begin at 9:30 a.m. at the baseball fieldhouse located down the third base side of Skyhawk Field.
The cost for the camp is $65.
The all-day event will provide campers the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of Division-I college coaches, as well as receive teaching and feedback to improve their game.
The camp instructors will also talk about college recruiting and how to promote the campers to college coaches.
The camp will feature a pro-style workout, individualized evaluation and instruction on all facets of the game.
The campers will take batting practice, participate in 60-yard dash drills, as well as take infield and outfield.
The event will conclude with a live game.
