Police have released descriptions of suspects in Sunday’s robbery of a Union City convenience store as the search for them continues.
Uptown North Convenience Store at 1315 East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive was robbed at 2:28 p.m. Sunday, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police received a report of the store being robbed by three black men, one of whom allegedly pulled a gun before they left the scene. No injuries were reported.
Union City police investigator Derrick O’Dell said today the three black males are believed to be ages 16 to 20. All three appeared to be about 6 feet tall or less and all three of slender build.
The robbers’ faces were hidden by black shirts wrapped around their heads. One of the shirts used as a mask (inset photos) had a lion face on the front and the words “Live mechanics, Rebel-Lion! The struggle continues ...” on the back. Two of the suspects wore white T-shirts and the third wore a long-sleeved black shirt and all three of them wore blue jeans and white shoes.
Two of the suspects were armed with handguns, according to O’Dell.
The robbery remains under investigation today and police hope someone might recognize the shirt as being worn by someone they know.
Anyone who has information is asked to call Union City police at 885-1515 or Crime Stoppers at 885-TIPS (885-8477). Crime Stoppers may also be emailed at ucpd@ci.unioncity.tn.us.
Callers to Crime Stoppers are guaranteed anonymity and tips which solve cases can be worth cash rewards. Published in The Messenger 8.15.12
