The Messenger, August 14, 2012 A resident of the Shawtown community reported to The Messenger Monday that she had received a suspicious phone call from a man with a foreign accent who advised her that changes were being made to her Medicare coverage. The resident, who hung up immediately, said she was suspicious of the call because previous changes in government programs have always come to her by mail. After checking with the Medicare office, she was assured the call did not come from them. Readers are reminded never to provide personal information or discuss personal information by phone, Internet, mail or in person until they have verified the source.
