SPLASHING ON THE PAD – Children took advantage of downtown Martin’s latest attraction Wednesday night when they town officially cut the ribbon on the splash pad in Festival Park. The project was paid for through a grant obtained by the city. The free water attraction boasts around 1,600 different light displays and provides much-needed heat relief. It is located right in the center of downtown. City officials said the spray ground will run each day from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. N-Site Construction built the project, and The Fountain People manufactured it. The system is set up on a timer and fountain heads built into the ground spray water a varying heights when the system is turned on. The water is re-circulated underground where it is filtered and comes back out of the spray heads. Photo by Sabrina Bates
