Hello and hope everyone had a great week.
The Weakley County Office on Aging/Dresden Senior Citizens Center started the week off hosting the annual Rook Tournament with the Martin Senior Adult Senior Center and the Sharon Senior Citizens Center joining us.
We appreciate all the participants who came from the Sharon and Martin centers, and also their directors, Shirley Chappell from Sharon, and Debra Edwards from Martin and her assistant, Trina Morris. We really enjoyed all the socializing, lunch and Rook playing.
First-place winners were Ailene Edwards from the Sharon Senior Center and Jane Young from the Dresden Senior Center. Second place was Gene Glover from the Dresden Senior Center and Barbara Burton from the Martin Senior Adult Senior Center. Third place was Janice Stigall from the Dresden Senior Center and Floyd Edwards from the Sharon Senior Center. Congratulations to everyone.
We traveled to the Sharon Senior Center Monday to continue the tournament. On Friday we will go to Martin Adult Senior Center to complete the tournament. We are looking forward to the next two weeks.
We would like to invite everyone to come and visit us at the Dresden Senior Citizens Center and enjoy the different activities that we offer. If you would like a calendar to be mailed to you, just call us at 364-5678 and give us your address.
We would like to remind everyone that we are now a partnership with the TN SHIPS PROGRAM and we are available to help anyone that has questions concerning their Medicare Part D. Just give us a call and we will be happy to assist you.
Don’t forget that Aug. 13 at 7 p.m., we will have our first “Pickers and Grinners Bash.” So, bring your favorite snack food and enjoy a fun night of entertainment.
We have also started a new activity called “The Bean Bag Toss.” It will be every Monday from 9-10 a.m. It is a fun game that we are sure you will enjoy.
We have line dance exercise on Tuesday mornings from 10-11 a.m. with Liz Sadler instructing. Ms. Sadler also teaches line dance on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
If anyone would be interested in us starting a new activity, please just give us a call and we will be glad to work on it.
