The Tennessee Republican Party recently highlighted 11 individuals from across the state who recently received Statesman of the Year awards at the State Party’s 36th Annual Statesmen’s Dinner. Among those honored with a Statesman of the Year award was William Whitehurst of Martin. Whitehurst was a recipient of the award from District 8. “We honored these individuals for their exceptional service and involvement in the Republican Party,” said Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney. “Each one of them has gone above and beyond the call of duty for our party and has put their time, money and energy into advancing Republican principles. I congratulate all of the winners and appreciate everything they have done for the Republican Party.” The Tennessee Republican Party selects winners from Tennessee Congressional districts currently held by Democrats while winners from districts held by Republicans are selected by those members of Congress. Whitehurst was chosen by U.S. Rep. Stephen Fincher for the award. Published inThe WCP 8.7.12
