Skyhawk work starts with weekend arrival

Head coach Jason Simpson is set to welcome the 2012 UT Martin Skyhawk football team to campus for preseason preparations for the upcoming 11-game slate.
Players must report to campus by 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The first team practice in shorts and helmets is set for 7:15 p.m. Monday at Hardy M. Graham Stadium.
The team’s first practice in full pads is set for Aug. 11.
Skyhawk Dates to Note:
Sunday — Players report to campus
Monday — First practice in shorts and helmets, 7:15 p.m., Hardy M. Graham Stadium
Aug. 11 — First day in full pads, contact work
Aug. 26 — Game week begins
Aug. 27 — First Day of Class
Sept. 1 — Season opener at Memphis, 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, other programs across the OVC are gearing up for their seasons as well

Murray State
Murray State head football coach Chris Hatcher has announced the practice schedule for preseason camp.
The Racers will take the field for the first time Friday at 9 a.m.
All practices are open to the public and fans are encouraged to come out and get a look at the 2012 Racers.
The 2012 season gets under way on Sept. 1 as the Racers travel to face Florida State. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN3.

Eastern Illinois
Eastern Illinois football reported for the 2012 season today to begin preparing for the start of the 2012 season under new head coach Dino Babers.
The Panthers media day and fan autograph day will be Saturday on the EIU campus.

Eastern Kentucky
The 2012 fall collegiate sports season is almost here as Eastern Kentucky the team as reported to campus and will hold its first official practice today on the synthetic turf surface at Roy Kidd Stadium beginning at 7 p.m.
Around 95 players are on the preseason camp roster including a league-high 10 players who were named to the 2012 preseason All-OVC team. The first practice featuring pads will be Aug. 7.
All preseason practices are open to the public.
EKU kicks off the 2012 schedule on Sept. 1 at Purdue. The season opener will be televised by the Big Ten Network beginning at 3:30 p.m..

Jacksonville State
The Gamecock football team will report on Sunday and will practice for the first time on Monday
Jacksonville State University will hold its annual Football Fan Day on August 18, at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium and is free and open to the public.
Fan Day begins at 11 a.m. with autographs and the Gamecocks will hold an open scrimmage beginning at 2 p.m.

SEMO
The Southeast Missouri football team reported for its preseason camp Wednesday. Players spent the day checking in, getting fitted for equipment and moving into their places of residence.
Southeast’s camp officially opens when the Redhawks take the field for conditioning and fitness testing exercises at Houck Stadium this afternoon.
The Redhawks enter the preseason with a total of 102 players on their roster. Southeast will hold 20 practices through Aug. 19. Four of those dates are designated two-a-day sessions.
Also included in that schedule are two intrasquad scrimmages at Houck Stadium (Aug. 11, Aug. 18).

Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles report to campus Friday to open fall camp and will assemble on the field Saturday for the official team photo at 10 a.m.
