Nashville – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced Monday that federal and state aeronautics grants totaling $18.3 million have been approved for 20 Tennessee airports.
Among those receiving grants, Everett-Stewart Regional Airport, located between Union City and Martin, has been awarded funds.
Everett-Stewart received a state grant for $1,037,257, with a local match of $54,592 for earthwork and pavements.
The regional airport was awarded a second grant for $78,319, with a local equal match for utilities construction.
The grants are made available through the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Aeronautics Division.
The Division administers federal and state funding to assist in the location, design, construction and maintenance of Tennessee’s diverse public aviation system.
The TDOT Aeronautics Division has the responsibility of inspecting and licensing the state’s 126 heliports and 75 public/general aviation airports.
