Maddox announces candidacy for House
Dresden – Mark Maddox announced this week that he is a candidate for State Representative.
Maddox is a Dresden native and currently serves as the Technology Coordinator for Weakley County Schools.
He and his wife, Kerri, have been married for 20 years and have three children. His wife is the K-5 school counselor at Gleason School and serves as the Education Edge Coordinator for Weakley County Schools.
Seventh-grader Meyer Blaine Maddox attends Dresden Middle School.  Molly Shannon Maddox, a fourth grader, and Mark Lee II Maddox, a second grader, both attend Dresden Elementary School.
Maddox graduated from Dresden High School and worked as a computer programmer before beginning his career in education that has lasted 27 years.  He has been a math teacher, a principal, and an instructional supervisor. Maddox’s dad, Sam, lives in Arkansas while his mom, Bonnie Jones, is a retired Dresden High School cafeteria manager living in Dresden.
Maddox served the people of the 76th Tennessee House District for seven terms following Ned McWherter and Roy Herron.
He championed sound and fully funded public education, quality of life for the developmentally and intellectually disabled, and dignity for the elderly.  His ideas brought more funding to agriculture enhancement grants for farmers, encouraged broadband access for small businesses to grow and easier access to funds for industrial recruitment, according to a press release.
“My goal is to end our legislature’s focus on political parties turning it to what’s best for Tennesseans.  We need an educated work force and a strong economic development department armed with the tools necessary to recruit good-paying jobs into our rural area.  We can’t win in this economic environment if we don’t work together.  I know how to work well with others to make good things happen,” Maddox stated. I will keep people informed about what is happening in Nashville by coming back home and meeting with them. I respectfully ask for your vote and support.”
