County included in heat advisory

From AP, staff reports
Forecasters have expanded a heat advisory to include the western half of Tennessee.
The National Weather Service said heat indexes between 105 and 109 degrees and air temperatures in the upper 90s will create dangerous conditions for people outdoors.
The advisory includes the area between the Mississippi River and Interstate 65, including Obion, Weakley, Lake and Gibson counties in northwest Tennessee. The advisory continues until 7 p.m., but the hottest times will be between 1-6 p.m.
Forecasters say illness such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke usually come on after cumulative exposure to heat. They caution that hot, muggy conditions have existed for several days.
NWS suggests taking personal precautions by wearing lightweight and loose fitting clothing and drinking plenty of fluid, but also checking on elderly neighbors who may not have air conditioning.
“Remember ... beat the heat and check the backseat. Do not leave children or pets unattended in vehicles for any period of time. Provide cool water and shade to pets and livestock,” the advisory states.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. People who work or spend time outside should take extra precautions. When possible strenuous activities should be rescheduled to early morning or evening hours.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location and 911 should be called, the advisory states.
