| Southern Machinery first to support new Banner Club |

A new fund-raising program has been introduced at the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Tennessee, and a major donor has already stepped up to support the program.
Letters were sent out earlier this month to potential donors, soliciting their financial support for the club’s new Banner Club.
“Your membership will entitle you to a banner permanently displayed in our club with annual notation of participation level,” the letter states in part. “This will allow the children to see who their supporters are every day!”
Southern Machinery Repair of Union City has already joined the club and a banner has been created honoring the industry’s platinum level support.
The ambitious new program is the brainchild of club board member Michelle Bing. Others involved with the club have joined the effort and the project’s potential is already being realized.
“We would like for the community to consider supporting our program,” said Vencent Bell, chief professional officer for the club. “We’ve got a lot of great potential in our youth, but we need the community’s financial support.”
The local club offers a wide variety of supervised activities and programs. The five focus points for the club are:
• Character and leadership development;
• Health and life skills;
• Sports, fitness and recreation;
• The arts;
• Education and career development.
The club also maintains a computer lab for youngsters as well as a new game room, arts room and the school gym.
The Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Tennessee serves more than 130 children daily during the school year and more than 230 youngsters are served daily during the summer months.
“With the help of supporters such as you, the club can continue to serve the children of our community,” the letter states.
The Banner Club has five levels of participation:
• Platinum membership requires a donation of $5,000 or more.
• Gold membership requires a donation of $3,000 to $4,999.
• Silver membership requires a donation of $1,000 to $2,999.
• Bronze membership requires a donation of $500 to $999.
• General membership is open to those making any other donation.
