Commodity foods to be distributed

The Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council recently announced U.S. Department of Agriculture commodities will be distributed to eligible area residents July 11 and 12.
The foods will be distributed at NWTEDC, 231 South Wilson St., Dresden, on Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
If your last name begins with the letter “L -Z,” you will pick up Wednesday (July 11). If your last name begins with letter “A-K,” you will pick up Thursday (July 12).
No numbers will be handed out before 7 a.m.
Bring boxes for your commodities.
Eligibility will be based on total household income not in excess of the state-established maximum percentage of the poverty line for the appropriate household size.
Also, anyone receiving aid from one of the following programs is eligible for USDA commodities; Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (formerly known as Food Stamps), Families First, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or documented residence in public housing.
In accordance with federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
