Hickman course
set for scramble
The annual three-man scramble at the Hickman Country Club has been set for Aug. 11-12.
There will be two flights in the event, one to tee off at 8 a.m. both days, the other starting play at 1:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
The number of flights will depend on the total team entries, according to organizers.
Entry fee is $180 per team.

Football finishes
UCPR camp season
The Union City Parks and Recreation Summer Instructional Program will close with a pair of football camps.
The first of two football camps will be held July 9-13, and the second is slated for July 16-20. Both will be conducted at the Union City High School practice fields, moving inside the athletic building in case of rain.
Each camp is scheduled for 8-11 a.m. The July 9-13 event is open to players who enter grades 3-5 this fall, while the July 16-20 camp is for players going into grades 6-8.
Fundamentals to be covered will include passing, receiving, line play, kicking and highlight films.

Webster steps up
on UT hoop staff
KNOXVILLE (AP) — Tennessee basketball coach Cuonzo Martin has promoted Tracy Webster to associate head coach.
Webster, entering his second season with the Volunteers, had been an assistant coach.
Webster has worked closely with Tennessee’s guards.
Martin said Webster is a tireless worker who deserves to be rewarded.
ETSU expanding
athletic center
JOHNSON CITY (AP) — East Tennessee State University has broken ground for an expansion of the Wayne G. Basler Center for Physical Activity.
The 20,000-square-foot expansion is expected to be completed in the fall 2013.
The work includes an extended weight and cardio room with new machines; a multi-use court for basketball, volleyball and indoor soccer; and studio spaces for yoga, Pilates and martial arts.
The expansion also includes a field house, a covered pavilion and parking.
The center is 10 years old.
