BRENTWOOD — The Ohio Valley Conference has partnered with Sidearm Sports (SAS) to be its the official website provider. The re-designed OVCSports.com site went live this weekend.
The move coincides with Belmont officially joining the OVC Sunday and SIUE becoming postseason eligible following the completion of its reclassification to Division I. The addition of Belmont gives the OVC 12 member institutions for the first time in its 65-year history.
Included in this partnership is an unprecedented live internet web streaming package. Members, supporters, alumni and fans will be able to watch conference contests free of charge on their computer, tablet or mobile device. Fans using mobile devices will be able to view the contests without having to download any special software or apps.
The new platform to stream live events coincides with the conference purchasing upgrading equipment for its member institutions; the new equipment will dramatically improve the quality of each school’s video stream.
More information on the web streaming will be announced in August, prior to the first contests of the fall season.
“Sidearm Sports is delighted with opportunity to work with the Ohio Valley Conference. It is our mission to provide the OVC and its members with the best possible web experience possible,” said Jeffrey Rubin, President/CEO of Sidearm.
“The streaming collaboration will deliver unbelievable exposure to the OVC, its members and Sidearm. We are ecstatic to welcome the OVC into the Sidearm Sports family.”
SAS, the official website host of nearly 600 schools, is already the provider for six OVC members; Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Murray State and Southeast Missouri State.
Since its early beginnings in 1996, SAS has been a pioneer and innovator in the technological advances within collegiate athletics. With nearly 20 years of experience under its belt, the Syracuse, N.Y. based company provides its clients with ground-breaking solutions for their web needs.
Now in its seventh decade of competition, the Ohio Valley Conference has grown significantly from its humble beginnings while increasing the number of athletics opportunities it provides for students.
Current league representatives include charter members Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State and Murray State, along with Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, Jacksonville State, Southeast Missouri State, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin.
