MPD reports busy weekend

A domestic incident, reckless driving and bar fight topped the list of calls for the Martin Police Department over the weekend.
Marvin West, 60, of Martin faces charges of aggravated domestic assault and reckless endangerment (use of a deadly weapon) after an alleged altercation with his wife Friday evening led to shots allegedly being fired.
According to an incident report, MPD officers were dispatched to 116 Moody St. shortly before 11 p.m. that day for a disturbance call.
When officers arrived, West admitted he and his wife and his son had gotten into an argument in the front yard.
West’s wife told officers he had fired two shots from a .22 caliber weapon in their front yard, according to the report.
Officers allegedly located a .22-caliber pistol near the front steps of the home. West was taken into custody at the scene.
On Saturday, officers with the MPD responded to a two-car accident which occurred at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Skyhawk Parkway and Gardner-Hynds Road in Martin.
Upon arrival, 49-year-old Kathy Murphy of Sharon had apparently left the scene on foot. Officers located her in the woods 75 yards away from the scene. According to the report, Murphy gave officers false information regarding her identity and claimed she left the scene because she did not have insurance.
Murphy also told officers she had taken Hydrocodone, Paxil, Geodone, Adderall, Xanax and Zanaflex that day, which were her prescribed medications, according to the report. Murphy’s license had been revoked in 2011 for DUI. She was taken to the hospital for a toxicology test and then taken into custody. Murphy faces charges of DUI 2nd offense, criminal impersonation, driving on revoked license, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with insurance.
A third incident early Friday morning allegedly involved a bar fight in the parking lot of the former location of Cheers while the nightclub was closing down.
Kadarius Bransford, 20, was seen allegedly punching another individual and fled the scene when officers arrived. He is also accused of attempting to shove an officer to the ground. Officers deployed a taser and subdued Bransford. He is charged with assault and resisting arrest.
