Hunter Hynds Unit holds monthly meeting

Posted: Wednesday, December 7, 2011 8:03 pm

The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women held its November meeting at Stanley’s Chapel United Methodist Church with 10 members present.
President Chris welcomed everyone.
Many prayer concerns were mentioned, followed by prayer by Emily Haynes.
Haynes read the minutes and Leanne Parnell gave the treasurer’s report and mentioned appreciation from Troy UMC for the postal donation for Operation Christmas Child of which Ivey Parnell assisted in packing boxes.
A donation was made in honor of Clorissa Wyatt to the annual Lions Club Telethon.
Becky Barnes read a card whereby contributions were sent to “Going the Extra Mile,” in memory of Lucile Thompson.
Sandra McTurner presented the prayer calendar and read from Matthew 24:29-35.
Chris Cheatham used a reading from “A Time of Thanksgiving,” for the Response Moment.
Linda Winstead announced the David Johnson Chorus would be singing at Dresden Elementary Nov. 26 at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Chris Cheatham presented the world thank offering service.
The focal point of interest was a cloth, candles, rocks, and a water-filled bowl – all symbolic of portions found within the program of the need to be freed of things that weigh people down and prevent them from being at peace.
Linda Winstead read the following scriptures: Psalms 37:5-6, Psalm 37:1-2; I Peter 5:7; and led the group in singing, Have Thine Own Way.”
The Christmas gathering will be held Dec. 14 at Sassafraz in Union City at 6 p.m.
