Lael Sunday School Class met for the regular monthly meeting in the family life center at First Baptist Church in Union City recently.
Faye Passmore, vice president, opened with prayer and after several names were mentioned, Joyce Stephens said a prayer for those in need.
The class gave a donation to the Lottie Moon Offering and also gave money to the Feeding of the 5,000, which will be hosted on Nov. 20 at First Baptist Church.
Dorothy Capps gave the devotional taken from Exodus 22. When Moses came to the people in the camp and saw they had melted all their jewelry and made a golden calf idol out of it, he burned it up and ground it to powder and scattered it into the drinking water supply, ensuring that nothing would be left over from the idol except human waste. He also smashed the 10 Comandments into the base of a mountain and broke them.
The scriptures state that Aaron “had let the people get out of control.”
Moses’ extreme indignation shown toward these unruly people should not have been surprising, she said.
Jean Eaker, the hostess, served coffee, soft drinks, ice cream, cake and Chex mix.
Those present were Mrs. Stephens, Trudie Thornton, Lena Mai Pruitt, Pat Cunningham, Dorothy Rasberry, Ms. Capps, Mrs. Passmore and Ms. Eaker
In December the class will have a Christmas party.
