New APSU RB coach
knows program well

John David Sellers, who has served Austin Peay State University’s football program as both a student and graduate assistant coach over the past four seasons, has been hired as the program’s new running backs coach.
Sellers replaces Josh Roberts, who resigned last spring to return to school.
After spending three years as a volunteer student assistant coach, Sellers officially became a member of the Austin Peay coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2010, working with tight ends.
Sellers came to Austin Peay in 2005 as a quarterback during the non-scholarship era and dressed for multiple games in his freshman season, although he did not play. A subsequent back injury helped Sellers turn his attention to coaching. He worked with the offense in a volunteer capacity from 2007-09, gaining a wide knowledge of the respective positions.

Jax. St. grid legend
a Division II HOFer

Former Jacksonville State head football coach Bill Burgess is one of three inductees into the Division II Football Hall of Fame Class of 2011.
Burgess will be joined by Larry Allen and Fred McAfee and will be inducted on Dec. 16 at the 26th annual Harlon Hill Trophy and Division II Football of Fame Banquet.
Established in 1999, the Division II Football Hall of Fame inducted former Division II players annually from 1999-2009 before inducting its first class of coaches in 2010. This year’s list of inductees includes two former Division II players and one coach, bringing the total number of players inducted to 27 and the total number of coaches to four.
Burgess was head coach at Jacksonville State University from 1985-96 and led the Gamecocks to an overall record of 69-22-4 in eight seasons in Division II. He posted an incredible record of 56-8-1 from 1988-92 and made three Division II Championship Game appearances, winning the National Championship in 1992.
