Hunter Hynds Unit meets at church for April session

Posted: Thursday, April 28, 2011 5:55 pm

The Messenger, April 28, 2011
Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women met recently at Stanley’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Union City.
 There were 11 members present.
President Chris Cheatham welcomed everyone and sought prayer requests.
She then led in prayer for those who were mentioned.
Emily Haynes read the minutes of the previous meeting.
Sandra McTurner presented the prayer calendar and read Matthew 22:23-33.
Mrs. Cheatham gave the Response moment and read “The Easter Obituary.”
Linda Winstead presented “Out of the Cocoon of Crisis Emerges a Butterfly,” chapter six from the group’s study of “Esther: A Woman of Faith,” and Mrs. McTurner announced that new reading materials are available for those who are taking part in the reading program.
Becky Barnes, Rosemary Coleman and Mrs. Haynes sang “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” as a preface to the program, “Born to Die.” The program was written by Nancy Merical.
The candlelight service represented Christ’s light in a dark world and the focal point was an impressive arrangement of 12 white tapers in glass holders, intertwined with grapevine and a purple silk cloth.
Mrs. Winstead sang “Via Dolorosa” to close the program.
The May meeting will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Sassafraz Restaurant in Union City, when the unit will enjoy the annual Spring Fling.
Mrs. Haynes will present the next chapter of the Ruth study at that session.
