The Union City School Board recently approved the following calendar for Union City schools for the 2011-12 school year at a called board meeting:

Aug. 11 — Registration/early dismissal for students
Aug. 12 — Teacher prep day (no school)
Aug. 15-Sept. 2 — Students present
Sept. 5 — Labor Day (no school)
Sept. 6-29 — Students present
Sept. 20 — Teacher prep day; parent-teacher conferences
Oct. 3-12 — Students present
Oct. 13 — Professional development (no school)
Oct. 13-18 — Fall break for students
Oct. 14-18 — Fall break for staff
Oct. 19-Nov. 22 — Students present
Nov. 23-25 — Thanksgiving (no school)
Nov. 28-Dec. 20 — Students present; early dismissal Dec. 20
