The Union City office of Child Support Services has closed — but customers will continue to receive local service from the Dresden office. A letter from the Tennessee Department of Human Services indicates the Union City office closed effective Friday. Charles Bryson, director of field operations for Child Support Services, said the Union City office served a small number of customers in-house — an estimated 50 to 60 per month — and they will continue to be served through the Dresden office. Court cases will still be heard in the same jurisdiction, the same call-in number will be utilized and local appointments will still be made for court appearances or board hearings, with staff members available to come to Union City to work with clients to avoid any inconvenience. “Basically, customers will still be served. The Dresden office will cover the judicial district,” Bryson said. “All customers will still be served through the Dresden office and all calls will still be answered and questions addressed.” Union City clients may still reach someone by phone by calling the local number at 886-4520 or toll-free 1-800-290-9220. Bryson said consolidating offices in the state is not unusual since the child support offices are set up based on judicial districts, which sometimes serve several counties.
