Wreck claims woman from Dyer County
A former employee at Health Quest in Union City has been killed in an automobile accident in Dyer County.
Phoebe (Jamison) Mc-Cain, 46, of Newbern, died at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center Saturday as the result of injuries she sustained in the accident. (See related obituary, Page 2.)
According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Ms. McCain was traveling southbound on Lane’s Ferry Highway in her 2001 Nissan XTE at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday when she failed to negotiate a curve to the left. Her vehicle exited the west edge of the roadway and traveled in a ditch for about 210 feet before striking the north ditch embankment of Butler Bottom Road. Her vehicle came to a final rest at Lane’s Ferry and Butler Bottom Road.
Trooper R. Clemmons reported Ms. McCain was not wearing a seatbelt and, in his opinion, safety restraints would have made a difference.
