CRAFTY LADIES — Nita Simpson of Union City (standing) showed Hazel Williams (left) of Union City how the face should look on her mop doll, while Violet Dinwiddie of Union City braided the hair of her mop doll. Mrs. Simpson, who serves as the FCE County Council vice president for public policy, taught the class to about 20 ladies Monday morning at the Obion County Museum in Union City as part of the University of Tennessee Extension Service’s Family and Community Education program. In addition to making crafts, FCE members are very active in the Obion County Fair, raising money for charities, quilting and fashion review. They also learn about health topics and economics. Monthly meetings are held by three separate clubs, with different program areas such as family life, nutrition and health, money management and environmental stewardship discussed. To learn more about how to become a member, call Obion County UT Extension agent Benita Giffin at 885-3742.
