Trial date set in Rowe DUI case
A former Sharon man will stand trial for an alleged DUI that resulted in the death of his stepson.
Robert Rowe’s case in Illinois began Sept. 1, 2008 when he was charged with aggravated DUI in Iroquis County, Illinois.
Rowe was traveling eastbound that day on U.S. Route 24 when he allegedly crossed the center line and struck a tractor-trailer head-on.
His passenger, 18-year-old Justin Scott Sanders of Sharon, was killed in the accident.
After more than one year, Rowe’s case was set for trial last week in Illinois.
His final pretrial hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 19, 2010 in Illinois. His trial date is scheduled for Feb. 8, 2010.
During a court hearing last week, Illinois Judge Gordon Lustfeldt told Rowe that a guilty verdict could land him in prison for a minimum of three years and a maximum of 14 years.
Rowe is free on bond.
