Deadline Friday for purchasing raffle tickets for $10,000 drawing

Someone will be $10,000 richer after Saturday’s noon drawing at the former Central Elementary School — site of the future Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee-Union City. The club is sponsoring the dramatic event and sales of $20 chances will continue at the club, currently located at the former Miles School on East College Street, or from board members through business hours Friday. The winner does not have to be present to win. In addition to the $10,000 prize, there are also several other opportunities for lucky winners. A 42-inch LCD television will be drawn for in the second round, followed by the announcement of the lucky ticket holder who will take home an iPod and then the name of the DVD player winner. Raffle participants who have purchased up to five tickets at a time will also be eligible to receive a Jiffy Steamer™ in a separate drawing. “Someone is going to walk away very happy on Saturday,” says B&G vice president of board development Clint Joiner. “The odds are terrific and we are all thrilled about our second raffle. The funds we have raised are helping hundreds of children and youth across our community and they are so happy that renovation is going to be beginning shortly on the Central property. We have some wonderful plans for our new club site, but the best part is that our club members will have expanded opportunities in a safe and attractive environment that has been linked with children for almost a century. It will be good to see Central come alive with young voices again.” Published in The Messenger 11.4.09
