Two mules and a wagon arrive in Phoenix
Two mules and a wagon arrive in Phoenix | John McComsey, two mules and a wagon, Henry

It has been almost exactly three months since John McComsey of Henry set out on his journey to visit his family in Arizona.
With two mules, Jack and Mack, guiding him and a Blue Tick Heeler canine as his companion, McComsey has ridden through seven states.
He set out April 1 from his home in Henry equipped with headlights, turn signals and a strobe light on his wagon.
His mules also pulled a second wagon during the trip that featured resting quarters, a radio, bathroom vanity, a water heater and a shower.
McComsey officially retired March 1 and told The Press in April that he had planned a scenic, unorthodox traveling trip to visit his sister, Beverly, in Phoenix, Ariz.
McComsey also said at the time he had nothing better to do.
His travels have garnered national attention.
McComsey also carried a lap top with him to document his journey at www.twomulesandawagon.com.
He has reached his original goal of arriving in Arizona in July as he made his last stop at his relative’s home on Wednesday.
Along the way, McComsey has experienced a different side of life that others haven’t had the opportunity to experience.
According to his Web site, the complete kindness of strangers has made his venture possible as people along the route have provided shelter, shoes for his mules, conversation and food.
He has seen a horned toad, a Gila monster, sunrises and sunsets.
His team has also witnessed severe spring thunderstorms form across the Plains states.
After landing in Phoenix, Ariz. on Wednesday, McComsey and his companions logged 1,763 total miles.
He will spend a few weeks resting at his sister’s home before deciding where his next venture in life will take him.
