County teams will be tested
County teams will be tested | Dresden Lions, Westview Chargers, University School of Jackson Bruins, West Carroll War Eagles, McKenzie Rebels, Greenfield Yellowjackets, Gleason Bulldogs, Region 7-A, Region 8-2A, high school football, Tennessee

Over the top — Westview senior J.C. Griggs, here leaping over a Dresden defender on the way to the end zone last Friday night, will try to lead his team to a critical Region 8-2A road win when they visit the University School of Jackson on Thursday.
Two of the Weakley County high school football teams will tangle with some of the top talent in their respective regions in Week 7 action.
The Westview Chargers will hit the road 24 hours earlier than usual with a Thursday night game. Westview (4-2,3-0 Region 8-2A) will take on the University School Bruins (5-1, 2-1 Region 8-2A). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Jackson.
The Greenfield Yellowjackets (3-3, 2-1 Region 7-A) will also take on a top team when they visit the McKenzie Rebels (5-1, 2-1 Region 7-A) Friday night.
In other Friday night action, the Gleason Bulldogs (2-4, 1-2 Region 7-A) will host the winless West Carroll War Eagles (0-6, 0-3 Region 7-A) with kickoff at 7. The Dresden Lions (0-6, 0-3 Region 8-2A) will return to their Rotary Field for the first time since Sept. 12 when they host the Gibson County Pioneers (3-3, 0-3 Region 8-2A) with kickoff set for 7:30.
WHS head coach Don Coady has spent the week preparing his defense to take on the Bruins' aerial attack keyed by quarterback Jake Overbey.
"USJ throws the ball all over the field. We've put in some packages to prepare for their offense," Coady said. "In spite of our problems, we're still tied for first in the region. This has big implications for both of us."
The Jackets will have to shake off last week's double overtime loss to South Fulton in order to focus on the Rebs.
"You always want to measure yourself against the best teams," Jacket head coach Jason Rodehaver said. "Our players know they'll have to play four quarters to win this one."
After allowing McKenzie to pull away in the second half of last week's loss, the Gleason Bulldogs will try to amp up against a War Eagle defense that allows 31.3 points per game.
In Dresden, the Lion offense has gotten on track, averaging 26 points per game in their last two outings. However, the DHS defense has been way too generous. Turnovers have also killed any Lion rallies. Dresden's foe, Gibson County, has seen many extremes, averaging 34.7 points in its wins, but has scored only one TD combined in three losses.
