| Martin bank robbery nets federal prison sentence |

A former Martin woman arrested in connection with a local bank robbery earlier this year has pled guilty to the charge.
Pam Wilson, 45, of Camden will serve 78 months in federal prison according to a press release issued by the United States Attorney’s Office in Memphis.
Wilson, along with her daughter LaToya Wilson and Edward Tharpe were arrested in March after investigators determined their connection to the robbery of Regions Bank in Martin.
Tharpe reportedly went into the local bank on a Friday afternoon armed with a .38 revolver handgun demanding money from a bank teller.
After leaving the scene, Martin Police officers worked with several agencies on a manhunt for Tharpe and his accessories to the crime. All three were located in Nashville possessing items that linked them to the robbery, a press release issued by the MPD cited.
The three suspects were indicted on federal charges of bank robbery and using a firearm during the robbery. Wilson and her daughter pled guilty to one count of bank robbery in June 2008.
Judge J. Daniel Breen sentenced Wilson to 78 months in federal prison and three years supervised release last week.
She was also ordered to pay a portion of restitution to Regions Bank in the amount of $3,139. The total amount of money stolen from the bank was reportedly $9,700.
LaToya Wilson is scheduled for sentencing in October while Tharpe has a court appearance set for today (Tuesday).
Tharpe faces additional federal charges for allegedly holding a bank teller at gunpoint at the SunTrust Bank in Nashville in January of this year.
MPD’s Capt. Randal Walker, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, University of Tennessee at Martin police, State Bomb and Arson, Camden Police Department and Nashville Metro PD handled the investigation.
