A Sidonia man will face an amended charge of second-degree murder for allegedly causing fatal injuries to his 30-year-old wife. April Kayser was transported to Volunteer Community Hospital last Friday evening by her husband Jason. April was reportedly unresponsive at the time and had to be airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. According to a press release issued by Weakley County Sheriff’s Inv. Randall McGowan, she had suffered a closed head injury. Jason Kayser was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault after he admitted to investigators that he had a fight with his wife at least 18 hours before she was taken to the hospital. There was apparently no weapon involved during the incident, but investigators are trying to determine if a hand, a foot or both, caused the damage inflicted upon April. After remaining in critical condition for nearly seven days at the Nashville hospital, April passed away Thursday evening. Jason Kayser now faces a charge of second-degree murder. He has been housed at the Weakley County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond. WCSD Inv. Marty Plunk has been assigned as the lead investigator on the case, according to a press release issued by the department. April Kayser’s autopsy is scheduled for today.
