Theft charged
The Messenger, November 20, 2009 Two people have been arrested and charged with a theft at the Walmart Supercenter in Fulton on Tuesday. Fulton police reported Trina Monique Pearson Smith, 27, and Tyrone Antonio Smith, 31, both of Ripley, were arrested by the Ripley Police Department in Lauderdale County as fugitives from justice for felony theft warrants on Thursday. Tyrone Smith was also charged with simple possession of marijuana by the arresting officers. Read More ...

Authors support Cystic Fibrosis fund raiser
Several local authors will autograph copies of their books Saturday, Nov. 21 from 1-4 p.m. at Common Grounds Coffee Shop in McKenzie in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic Fibrosis is a debilitating disease that can affect young children, damaging their lungs and digestive systems. When the CFF was founded in l955, children often didn’t survive through grade school, but with medical advances and research funded through donations, the median age expectancy is now about 37.
