A to Z Thrift Store opens in UC The Messenger 11.16.09
Allen Bridges is offering everything from A to Z at his new store.
He recently opened A to Z Thrift Store at 2300 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City.
Bridges said he is accepting donations of furniture, clothing, toys and “anything that can be resold to help people in need.” He said he hopes to resell enough items to have funds on hand to provide community help such as giving food to those in need or supplying emergency lodging and clothes for victims of house fires. State tax collections fall short for third consecutive month The Messenger 11.16.09
NASHVILLE — For the third consecutive month in the fiscal year that began July 1, state tax collections fell below budgeted estimates.
Tennessee Finance and Administration Commissioner Dave Goetz announced state revenue collections for October were $698.2 million, which is 1.53 percent below October 2008 collections. October collections reflect consumer spending in September. Read More ... The Associated Press |
Union workers offered 840 jobs The Messenger 11.16.09

CHATTANOOGA (AP) — General Motors has offered union workers at the automaker’s soon-to-be idled Spring Hill assembly plant 840 jobs in Lansing Delta Township, Mich., where GM is relocating production of the Chevrolet Traverse.
