			<description><![CDATA[None of the skippers at the four Weakley County football-playing  institutions can look into a crystal ball and tell what the future  ultimately holds.<br /> However, they weren&rsquo;t naive enough to believe that the recent closure of  Union City&rsquo;s Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company plant wouldn&rsquo;t have an  effect on their programs. <br /> More than 1,800 employees of the company were left without a job last  week &mdash; or at the very least with the option of having to move and work  at another Goodyear factory &mdash; when the plant closed.<br /> Of that workforce, 384 are listed as residents of Weakley County.]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[UT Martin football senior Stephen Shiver was named to the College  Football Performance Awards preseason watch list for wide receivers.<br /> Shiver, from Maryville, led the Skyhawk receivers with 36 catches for 634 yards and five touchdowns. <br /> He will enter the season with 73 receptions for 1,177 yards and eight touchdowns. <br /> Shiver is one of seven UT Martin players ever to catch three touchdown passes in a single game. <br /> Additionally, he etched his name in the record book this past season  with the three touchdown catches during the 52-21 victory over Lambuth  on Oct. 21.]]></description>
