A significant piece of Union City history is about to be demolished.
The now vacant Brown Shoe factory located along Gibbs and Cheatham streets on the north side of town has been sold and is in the process of being scrapped.

Almost two years after being diagnosed with Stage 5 kidney disease, Lina is a couple of more doctor visits and one surgery away from hopefully dealing with the end of a successful kidney transplant.

Just who is responsible for replacing a portion of the roof at the former Miles School was the question posed Tuesday night at the Union City city council meeting.
City manager Kathy Dillon said Head Start officials have informed her there are several leaks in the gym roof and because the flooring is wood, it is an “urgent need.”
