Maurice Shirkey

Maurice G. Shirkey, 89, of Troy passed away 5 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020, at his home.
Funeral services were to be conducted 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Ray Cagle was to officiate. Burial was to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery near Troy.
Visitation was to be held from noon until the hour of services today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were to be Jason Shirkey, Seth Payne, Noah Payne, Austin Pratt, Myles Pratt and Izick Pratt.
He was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Henderson, Ky., son of the late Lawrence and Henrietta (Adams) Shirkey. He married Helen (Wilmurth) Roberson Shir-key May 31, 1998. She survives.
Maurice served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was a retired maintenance supervisor. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Union City.
He is also survived by five daughters, Kay Shirkey and Gail Galbraith, both of Ocean Springs, Miss., Rachel Smith (Gene) of Lenoir City, Roberta Cooper (John) of Rensselaer, Ind., and Colina Roberts of Muncks Corner, S.C.; one son, Gary Shirkey (Julie) of Brandenburg, Ky.; three stepdaughters, Margaret Miller (Skip) of Union City, Sandra Robinson (Lynn) of Troy and Suzie Jordan of Goshen, Ind.; two stepsons, Thomas Lloyd Roberson Jr. (Sharron) of Troy and Steven Jordan of Rensselaer; one brother, Melvin Shirkey (Martha) of Fairhope, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Gerry Shirkey; one sister, Margie Trent; and two brothers, Joe Adams and Marvin “Jack” Shirkey.
