Mr. Michael Duane Layton, 69, of Hornbeak passed away 1:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2020, at his home.
There will be no services held. Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Michael was born Feb. 20, 1951, in Terre Haute, Ind., son of the late Dean Albert Layton and Lucy Marie (Cox) Layton of Terre Haute. He married Karen (Sims) Layton Sept. 23, 2016. She survives.
He worked as a plumber/pipe fitter for Local 157 and was a trucker for many years. He was also a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association and Owners-Operators Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA).
He is also survived by four daughters, Michaelle Layton of Terre Haute, Angela Freeman (Roger) of Mattoon, Ill., Tanya Ritz of Texas and Jeanine Eubanks (Dre) of Indiana; three sons, Michael Wilson (Karen) of Mattoon, Brandon Harris (Sara) of Charleston, Ill., and Butch Ritz of Illinois; two brothers, Dennis Layton (Cindy) and Jerry Layton of West Terre Haute, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Jon Kirkley and Greg Wilson; two sisters, Cyndi Layton and Janet Gill; and one brother, James Layton.
