DISPLAYING LOCAL TALENT — With the grand opening of the Obion County Fair set for Aug. 19, local residents flooded the fairgrounds on Saturday to turn in artwork, photos, craft projects and canned fruit and vegetables in hopes of walking away with a blue ribbon. Local students Lennon Bing (left) and Carter Holzner pitched in by helping hang entries in the youth hobbies and crafts division Saturday afternoon at the fairgrounds. While the entry deadline for most divisions was this past Saturday, the turn-in date for antiques and collectibles is Friday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Floral and domestic horticulture and horticulture, fruits and garden turn-in will also be this Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Junior culinary, junior field crop and open field crop entries will be accepted Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and adult culinary entries will be accepted Aug. 19 from 9 a.m.-noon. Finally, cut flower and fresh bouquet entries will be accepted from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 21.
